FAQ

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

I’m a Christian…
Why should I visit The Vine?
We are a church that takes the Bible seriously. We open it, read it, and preach from it every Sunday. Our main pursuit in studying the scriptures every week is to glorify Christ. As we glorify Christ, two things always happen. 1. People who don’t know Him will want to know Him. 2. Christians will be built up in their faith and continue growing toward maturity and Christian service. You can go many different places to hear messages concerning self-help techniques and get rich schemes. At The Vine… everything we do is rooted and grounded in the Gospel of Jesus Christ.

How do you classify yourselves theologically?
We are Christian, Protestant, Evangelical, Reformed, Spirit-Filled, Charismatic, and Complementarian. Hows that?

How Charismatic are you?
We love to worship Jesus. We encourage people to sing, clap and raise their hands during worship. It is not uncommon to see people weep during our worship service. However, we ask that no one intentionally draw attention to themselves during worship time… This means that people should leave their flags and tambourines at home.

How Reformed are you?
We completely agree with the 5 Sola’s that stem from the theology of the reformation period…
*Sola Scriptura – Scripture alone. The Bible is our highest authority. If the church teaches something that is not in scripture, then we are not bound to their teachings.
*Soli Deo Gloria – For the glory of God alone. All things were created by God and exist for His glory and plan.
*Solo Christo – By Christ’s work alone are we saved. Christ is the sole mediator between God and man. There is no salvation apart from Christ.
*Sola Gratia – Salvation by grace alone. Salvation cannot be obtained through our own merit. It is freely given us through Christ by the grace of God.
*Sola Fide – Justification by faith alone. We appropriate the work of Christ and grace of God by faith. Faith is the tool God has given us to respond to what He has done for us.

Spirit-Filled can mean many different things…
What does it mean at The Vine?
It means that God didn’t leave us alone. He sent His own Spirit to help and comfort us. The sweet Holy Spirit leads and guides us, teaches us, convicts us of sin, empowers us, gifts us, and produces fruit in us. The purpose of the Holy Spirit’s work in our lives is singular… to glorify Jesus and show Him to the world (Acts 1:8).

What do I wear to The Vine?
We are a very diverse group of people. Some like to dress up, and most like to come casual. Basically… come however you feel comfortable.

Do you serve coffee?
Oh yes! We have a full cafe brewing many different flavors every Sunday. The best part… it’s absolutely free!!

How long are your services?
Our services begin at 10:30am and usually end shortly after 12. So, roughly an hour and a half.

Do you take communion every Sunday?
Yes, yes we do. The life, death and resurrection of Jesus is the reason we meet on Sunday’s. If not for what is signified in the bread and the cup we would all be hopeless. Communion forces us to look at Jesus and what He did for us. For many, it’s one of our favorite parts of the worship gathering.

Do you have environments for my children?
Yes we do. We currently have ministries on Sunday morning for nursery, toddler, pre-school and elementary age kids. Basically, if your child is 12 or younger, we have a class for them on Sunday morning while you enjoy our adult service. We also have ministries for your teenager and young adult that meet at different times throughout the week.

Are you affiliated with any denominations or networks?
Yes we are. We are part of the Church of God (Cleveland, TN).
